AND THE ENGINE IS...

After vacillating between a rebuilt stock 283 mill, or de-tuning a roller cammed, balanced and blueprinted 327 shortblock --both of which I own-- I've decided to go the 327 route. Okay, the first order of business is to pull the COMP CAMS 288HR-10 roller cam out and swap in a less aggressive profile.  After doing a lot of online research, including looking at the factory grinds such as the infamous 30-30 and 350LT1 grind, I've landed on my cam of choice. I'm going with a Comp Cams 270H roller cam. If my research bears out, it will offer a nice lumpy idle and loads of low and mid-range torque. I figure my compression in the mid 9's. The heads will be sixties camel humps, even though numerous better flowing options exist. I figure that's the price I'm willing to pay to make it look correct to the sixties era. More to come...
